Lee Roy Selmon's story combines the virtues of family football scholarship with community service. First family he is the youngest of the nine children of Lucious the Jessie and Lucious Selmon. The family lived on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. The second football was that he is the youngest of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. Three brothers were All-America. The year 1973 was the first time Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the players for one season. Lee Roy was named the most offensive lineman in the United States by Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. The three years he was the team's starter, Oklahoma went 32- 1-1 and won two national championships. Selmon was honored when the National Football Foundation named him as a Scholar-Athlete three times time in 1975. Selmon received a degree in Education. Lee Roy spent ten hours a week on volunteer work during his college years. After graduation Lee Roy relocating to Tampa and spent the next 9 years with the Buccaneers. Three times he was named All-Pro. Lee Roy began his professional career. By 1988 he had become an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked on the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. So it's not surprising that In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him as one of the country's most outstanding young men. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch taller and weighing 256 pounds in college as a player, captained his team during the season of 1975. He was promoted to the associate director of Athletics at the University of South Florida. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988 the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave their Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor that presented the award.
